Avon | Horse Guard State Park

Horses, yay!

A small parcel of land preserved admist a vast residential area, across the street from a Connecticut Horse Guard facility. Rocky trails ascend to a little ridge area featuring views of the nearby mountains.

Baby pine trees, my favorite!

Ice covered trail, wishing it was smooth enough for skates.

Go this way for a view, rocky!
Not bad for a short climb.

The trail continues until the “No Tresspassing” sign. Turn around here.
Trail on the lower side of the view points – along a swampy area.
The lower ridge trail is very rocky.

I discovered the trail keeps going! I love that Avon has made a concerted effort to preserve this land and keep it available for all to use. For my own purposes I’m calling this the “Avon Trail”.
