The Catskills of New York State are no stranger to me. Somewhere in between the city and highway i90 are some of the most rugged trails in the northeast. I know because I’ve hiked the Devil’s Path (once as 24+ hrs OAB), and completed the Cats Tail Marathon (25 miles thru Panther, Slide, Cornell, and Wittenberg Mountains).
Escarpment wasn’t easy by any means, but was the most pleasant Catskill hike so far. Long sections of non-technical terrain, and mostly moderate elevation change, with a few pronounced climbs. The Best part tho? The views were almost nonstop and got better as we hiked towards the end – Scutt Road, near Katerskills Falls.
