Heeey Looo! I’m officially starting a blog. I’ve considered it for years, as a way of documenting things I want to share, and keep all in one place. A little about me – I am a wife to an amazing and supportive husband, Steve, and a mom to 4 beautiful, smart and loving girls, Rylee, Lauren, Erin and Olivia. At one point they were all ages 6 and under… but now the oldest is 10 and we actually sleep thru the night, a perfect time to start a blog, right?

A little about my family – we love swimming in the summertime, camping in a tent, backyard fires, sardines (our favorite hide and seek game), biking, traveling, staying at hotels with a pool, going to the beach, and trying new museums/crafts/toys/playgrounds… if it’s NEW, we are more likely to be interested.
I like to keep busy, and try to keep the kids busy. I love the outdoors – running, trail running, hiking, ultra-hiking, biking, rollerblading, campfires, backpacking, ice skating, tent camping, swimming, the ocean, water sports, the mountains….. etc…. Starting anything I do, whether it’s fairy houses with the kids, road tripping to a new campground with the family, or making improvised recipes… these things are always more fun when a sense of adventure tags along.
Now…. to be honest, this blog will also be a special place, like a journal, of some of the highs and lows that are part of life, part of these adventures. Like many, I’ve had to work thru mental health issues – anxiety, depression, and at one point – postpartum psychosis. These are real issues! Changing habits, getting brain chemicals back in balance, seeking support, and seeking professional help when it’s needed – are how I’ve learned to juggle this part of “me” that I don’t always love. I wasn’t planning on going this deep, but it was recommended to me by a dear Uncle (ahem…. John!), and it’s what makes a personal blog…. personal.
I’ll share my favorite activities with the kids and family. To include….. how we road tripped over 3,000 miles in 2 weeks, camped in Acadia National Park, fell in love with Franconia Notch State Park (NH), our favorite chicken pot pie recipe, why BusyTown is our favorite family board game, why driveway chalk roads are awesome… and more!!
I’ll also post my adventures – like hiking/running the 52 miles of the CT Appalacian Trail in a day, why burbees (best fitness move ever) should be your friend, my favorite marathon training book, how to diet without dieting, safety “must-haves” on the trail, also the time I got a mild concussion trail running… and what I’ve learned from these experiences. If anyone knows me, I am drawn to outdoorsy, fitness-y things – no two runs, hikes, or outdoor experiences are ever the same!
Oh, and you’re probably wondering – what do I do for work? I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary and Special Education. With the degree, I went a little alternative…. I facilitated team building at a few neat ropes courses, tutored at an inner-city school, steered dragonboats (sort of like a 22 person canoe) on the Connecticut River, bartended at a fancy hotel…. and most importantly, raised 4 kids (ages 4, 6, 8, and 10 as we speak). You can’t do these jobs without mixing in a little creativity… so adventuresome is where I guess I like to go. My Adventuresome is the name of my blog, come back and visit. Thanks, enjoy reading!
