Hi, here in CT the state added a plastic bag tax, so now most stores use paper bags instead. It’s a win for environmental change. But it’s funny seeing how each business has managed this change.
1. Some businesses haven’t changed at all. Mainly food service. Plastic bags (along with plastic utensils, plastic containers, plastic cups… etc, etc) are still used freely at many restaurants for take out or to-go. No extra cost.
2. Other businesses (ie. Target) have made the switch to durable paper bags with luxurious handles. There is no “per bag” fee, these useful bags are FREE.
3. Then you have grocery stores. The grocery store is a place you WILL need bags. Unless you are just grabbing milk, in which case you might find yourself at the gas station. …. And they charge TEN CENTS a bag! And these are paper bags that do NOT have handles. And will TEAR if overloaded or get wet with condensation. Ten cent breakable bags.
Sooo one day…. today to be exact… I arrived at the grocery store and discover I have one reusable bag and one large backpack in my van. (Borrowed backpack I still need return to owner… catch on to how I’m very organized and on top of things…?)
Perfect! This bag can be stuffed with food, I mean groceries. I’ll save a dollar! Lol!! This is my logical, eco-friendly thinking.
One thing leads to another and I go “overshopping” at the grocery store – my kids term for when I buy more than what’s on the “list”.

Okay, a lot of overshopping happening today… maybe I wont have to go to the store again for 2 weeks..
